About Us

MA Institute of Hair and Beauty is the brainchild of Sophie Oakes, the Daughter of hairdressers Tony and Sandra.

 

Being surrounded by the industry from birth, Sophie has a great understanding of the needs of Hairdressers and Beauty Therapists alike.

 

In 2003, she turned her focus to Education. Offering short courses to the local industry community and public alike.

 

These proved popular and that started Sophie thinking BIG!

 

MA Institute of Hair and Beauty began offering nationally recognised accredited courses from the hair and beauty training package in 2010 and hasn’t looked back since! Now the largest and longest running private Hair and Beauty College in The Macarthur area, MA Institute of Hair and Beauty has helped hundreds of students realise their dream of a career in the industry.

When deciding on which brand partners to use, Sophie had a difficult choice. She chose Wella (hair) RPR (hair) and Sothys (Beauty) LAMPSI (Beauty) due to their Quality, commitment to education and technical support.

 

With a focus on “Job readiness”, Sophie created the Student Salon, this runs 4 days a week allowing students the flexibility when completing their required practical hours. In the Salon Students practice new skills, see new techniques, observe and assist seniors, and perfect their passed competencies.

 

When a student has completed their Qualification and required practical hours, they are truly confident and ready for the workplace which increases their employability when compared with other graduates.
